Since being elected chair of The Crimson's Multimedia board in January 2023, I've increased video production fivefold. Of the 26 videos published in 2023, I worked directly on 12 of them, many of which were breaking news videos that I filmed, produced, and edited myself with a 2-3 hour turnaround time.
Below are a selection of video projects that I've worked on. You can view all of The Crimson's videos here.
Student Perspectives From the Pro-Palestine Harvard Yard Encampment
Three days after pro-Palestine organizers began an encampment in Harvard Yard, The Crimson asked students why they were participating and what their experience had been. Here is what they said.
I conceptualized this video and conducted half of the interviews and B-roll. I polished the video's rough cut and made vertical edits of the video for YouTube and Instagram.
Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
Pro-Palestine protesters established an encampment in Harvard Yard in April 2024 to demand that the University divest from investments and companies in the West Bank and to protest the College’s suspension of the Palestine Solidarity Committee.
I was on the scene taking photos when the encampment began, and I immediately switched to filming to make this breaking news video.
A Couple's Fight to Legalize Chicken-Keeping in Cambridge
In 2017, Robert and Susan Filene got their first chickens. This July, the city of Cambridge ordered them to get rid of the birds or pay $300 in fines per day. Now, they’re fighting to keep their birds — and legalize chicken-keeping in Cambridge.
As a producer, videographer, and editor, I conceptualized the video, organized the interview, filmed b-roll, and polished the rough cut.
At Harvard Yard Vigil, More Than 1,000 Mourn Victims of Hamas Attacks, Stand with Israel
More than 1,000 people gathered by the steps of Widener Library one week after the Oct. 7 invasion of Israel by Hamas for a vigil to stand in solidarity with Israel and mourn civilian deaths.
I filmed and edited this video while on assignment to photograph the vigil. The article that the video accompanied can be read here.
Cambridge Activists Protest Council Candidates After Racist, Transphobic Tweets Comes to Light
More than 20 demonstrators protested outside an event held by the Cambridge Citizens Coalition over the group’s endorsement of two Cambridge City Council candidates who promoted transphobic and racist content on social media.
I filmed this video with my co-writer while on assignment to cover and photograph the protest. I edited the video myself, and it accompanied this article that I co-wrote.
Protesters Clash in Washington After Supreme Court Ends Affirmative Action
Affirmative action supporters and counterprotesters clashed on Capitol Hill hours after the release of the Supreme Court’s decision effectively striking down affirmative action in higher education.
I filmed this video on the scene in D.C., where I was the sole multimedia journalist for The Crimson, capturing photos and field tape for a podcast as well. Read the article that the video accompanied here.
150 Years of The Harvard Crimson
On the occasion of The Crimson's 150th anniversary, take a look inside 14 Plympton Street and get a glimpse at the work that 350 active student journalists do every day.
I helped conceptualize this video celebrating our 150th anniversary, and I contributed to filming, audio recording, and editing the video.
